George Benson Strutt, the second son of Jedediah, built Bridge Hill House in Belper overlooking the family mills site. He was production manager of Belper and Milford Mills. He was prominent in local affairs, being instrumental in forming the Belper Savings Bank in 1818 and became a JP for Derbyshire in 1827, alongside his brother William and nephew Edward. He introduced a gas supply to the mills and provided gas lamps for the town.
